  • Division of the Clerk's office to which you are sending your fax;
  • Your name, address, telephone number, and fax number;
  • Case number;
  • Case name and brief description of the transmitted document; and
  • Number of pages to be transmitted (including cover sheet).

Is there a charge to fax a pleading?

No. There is no charge to file a pleading by fax.

Do I need to mail the document to the Clerk's office after I fax it?

No. The fax document is the original filing, so please do not send duplicate copies in the mail.

Can I fax one document that applies to more than one case?

No. One pleading can only correspond with one case number for purposes of filing. If you are faxing a pleading that applies to more than one case number, you will need to send a separate document for each case file.

Is my document considered to be filed when I fax it?

All documents will be clocked in to reflect the actual date of the transmission according to the time and date stamp affixed to the paper by the fax machine. The only exception to this policy is when a document is transmitted on a day other than a business day. If you transmit a document on a Saturday, Sunday, or an official holiday, your document will be clocked in on the next business day, excluding official Clerk holidays.

Who is responsible for ensuring that the document is properly transmitted?

It is your responsibility to ensure that there are no technical difficulties with a fax transmission. The fax machines at the Clerk's office use a laser printer to print documents on letter-sized paper. If your fax machine is clean and in good condition, the faxed document will be of letter quality. The Clerk will not be able to accept illegible documents for filing, so please be sure your fax machine is well maintained.
